Where to stay in Arraial d'Ajuda

Arraial d'Ajuda Special Guide. 16-Feb-2011 .Praiero
Tips to keep in mind regarding the location of accommodation in Arraial d'Ajuda

Arraial d'Ajuda, like much of the coast of Bahia, is divided into two parts: the lower part, which is at sea level and includes the urban sector that surrounds the Estrada da Balsa , the beaches of Apaga Fogo, Araçaipe, Praia do Delegado and Mucugê, and the central part that is located in the altiplano where the village was born, around the church Nossa Senhora d'Ajuda.

Personally I prefer to stay at the inns of the Estrada da Balsa ( Watch satellite map ), this road connecting the port where they arrive the ferries from Porto Seguro and the center of the village is the most peaceful and pleasant part of the village, the only disadvantage of staying here is the small amount of business, the ones that have few products and are much more expensive than in the center . The center is not far, only a couple of kilometers, but is located in the upper part and climb the "Ladeira da santa"(so the locals call the final climb to the center) is quite exhausting, not to mention doing it under the Sun. Sometimes you just want to buy something as simple as toothpaste and it bothers you a bit to pay it twice as much or have to go to the center by bus or combi; Those who choose to stay in this part of Arraial d'Ajuda must take the precaution of foreseeing possible purchases when going up to the center so as not to have to spend more on the businesses of Estrada da Balsa, this is particularly important for those who rent a house or apartment with kitchen and depend on the supermarket.

The other Arraial d'Ajuda area where most of the inns and hotels accumulate is between Estrada de Mucugê( Watch satellite map ) and < em> Alameda two Flamboyants ( Watch satellite map ), both streets in the center. Here the problem is inverse one has all the infrastructure and nightlife options at hand but to go to the beach you must go down to the beach and then go back up to the center at the end of the day, which means that the beach is not all how accessible many would like.
