It is quite expensive to get to Arraial d'Ajuda by Taxi from the airport of Porto Seguro, since it must wait for the intervals of the Ferry both to go and to return.
The alternative and recommended way to get to Arraial d'Ajuda is to take a taxi from the airport but only to the Balsa, then cross to Arraial with the Balsa, on the other side there are buses and combis that make the journey of 5 kilometers to the center very often. During daytime hours the wait does not exceed 10 minutes. The price of both buses and combis is 2 Reals.
Cheaper alternative to leave from Porto Seguro Airport
It is possible to walk about 300 meters from the airport and wait for the buses that go down to the city. There is not an official stop but the buses that pass by in general stop and they all take us to the center of Porto Seguro and leave near the Balsa. The official stop closest to the airport is going down the slope about 200 meters( View on satellite map ) ;.
Once on the bus Ask the driver to advise them to get as close as possible to where Las Balsas leaves, from there you will have to walk approximately 300 meters.
Simple common sense but we must clarify that this alternative is not recommended at night.
From the Porto Seguro bus terminal ( View on satellite map )
In front of the bus terminal you take the urban buses that lead to the ferry.
Arriving by bus from Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or Salvador de Bahía
By bus from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo you can reach Porto Seguro through the company São Geraldo ( the prices are around 200 R $ from São Paulo and the travel time is 26 hours) and from Salvador de Bahía through the company Águia Branca .
Option for those who want to avoid crossing with the Ferry
The way to avoid the ferry for those who arrive by bus from either the south(Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo) or from the north(Salvador de Bahía) is the following: instead of going to Porto Seguro, take a passage to the city of Eunápolis( View on map ); from Eunápolis to Arraial d'Ajuda the trip is approximately 1:30 hs by the company Aguia Azul, the frequency of the services is approximately every 2 hours, although the last service is usually early, it is recommended if you follow this option calculate to not reach Eunápolis after 6 pm. The tickets to Eunápolis are cheaper than to Porto Seguro as well.
