A trip to Florianópolis is more than a trip to an individual tourist destination, Florianópolis is an island of considerable size that includes a group of destinations and beaches that can be part of an exclusive trip in itself. For this reason it is important to know from the beginning where part of the island one will stay.

There are those who stay in the center and use this location as a center of operations from which to travel all the beaches and attractions of the island. Option usually chosen by those who arrive here with a car or rent it; or there are those who choose one of the beaches and forget the rest of the island until the next trip.

The reality is that if you do not have your own mobility and you are staying at one of the beaches, access to the other beaches is not entirely simple, and sometimes the best option is a long trip to the center to combine with another line towards the destination beach. Recently things improved in that sense with the inclusion of buses that connect the most important beaches of the north and the center of the island. However, this service only works in high season(between the end of December and the end of Carnival) and is quite more expensive than conventional buses.

Personally I think the best thing to do is forget about the center(not to mention stay at a hotel on the continent) and have one of the beaches as base accommodation and then choose a couple of other beaches in other regions of the island as an alternative for walks. The center of the island can be left to make purchases on rainy days, which by the way are not usually missing in this part of Brazil. Of course these decisions will depend mainly on how many days are destined for the trip to ilha da magia .

The beaches of Florianópolis are divided mainly into 3 regions: the northern beaches( See in map ), of which the most important are Canasvieiras , Inglêses and Jurerê ; those of the center, where Barra da Lagoa , Praia Mole and Joaquina stand out, and those of the south: Armação >, Pantano do Sul .

The northern beaches are the most popular and with the greatest infrastructure, Jurerê is the most exclusive and Canasvieiras the most popular, in high season it is very popular among Argentines, who also own restaurants, Inns and hotels there.

The southern beaches are the quietest, ideal for couples and for those who want to relax in contact with nature. They have beautiful landscapes and ecological trails such as those coming from the beach of Matadeiro (beach next to Armação , See on satellite map ) until Lagoinha do Leste , hidden jewel among mountains and impressive subtropical vegetation, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region( View on satellite map ).
Another hidden and secret jewel that gives us the south of the island is the beach of Naufragados ( View on satellite map ) , located at the southern tip of the island, this beautiful beach is only accessible through paths between the hills or by sea.
In the center of the island there are beaches for all tastes, beaches with excellent waves for Surf like Joaquina( View on satellite map ) and Praia Mole ( View on satellite map ); popular beaches and good infrastructure such as Barra da Lagoa( View on satellite map ), and the best environment on the island around Lagoa da Conceição, with restaurants of international cuisine, good inns and hotels, and the best nightlife. In this area of the island is relatively fast access between different beaches, it is possible to go quickly between Joaquina and Praia Mole and from there to Barra da Lagoa ; a strategic point to stay is the eastern part of Lagoa da Conceição( View on satellite map ) since this part of the lagoon, besides being a place of great beauty allows easy access to several of the best beaches(such as Joaquina and Praia Mole ) even on foot, the buses that connect this part of the island with the center and Barra da Lagoa are frequent and the journey is relatively short.
This part of the island, although not as accessible from Lagoa da Conceição , also belongs to the Campeche beach, which is distinguished by the island of the same name in front of it, the beach of Campeche is one of the most extensive in Florianópolis and has many sectors almost deserted. In the urbanized part of the beach there are many inns and the boats go out to the island of Campeche , walk this one highly recommended especially to appreciate https://brazilbeachtravel.com/blog/travel-florianopolis/ la-paradisiaca-playa-de-la-isla-de-campeche "> the paradisiacal beach of the small islet( View on satellite map ).
Airway arrives at Hercilio Luz airport( View on satellite map ) located 12 Kilometers from the city, this airport as well as receiving flights from all over Brazil , in high season receives numerous flights from Buenos Aires.
The Rita María bus station in the heart of the city, receives services from the main cities of Brazil and from neighboring countries.
The company Pluma has services linking Florianópolis with Buenos Aires and Rosario, there is also a line of Feather linking Santiago de Chile and Florianópolis
Another option in Omnibus from Argentina is the company Flechabus .
From Montevideo Uruguay operates services to Florianópolis the company TTL( see prices and schedules ).
From Asuncion of Paraguay there is a bus by the company Boquerón(Tel(21) 551-738 550-880).
The main access route to the city is the BR-101.
